Mark Stewart brings deep industry knowledge and operational/management savvy to the M Stevens Wealth Advisor team.
Mark has 28 years of experience in the financial services business. After his start with American Express Financial Advisors, Stewart worked at various broker dealers as a trader and operations supervisor in California and Texas. In 1996 he founded Stewart Securities. As a Nasdaq market maker he focused on public listings for over a dozen companies, and actively traded hundreds of stocks. His clients included numerous public companies and corporate executives. In 2010 Mark sold Stewart Securities and prior to M Stevens was a successful Alpha Trader for many of the largest quantitative hedge funds in the world.
Mark also served on FINRA's district conduct committee from 2007-2010 and in addition to the Series 7 license, has also qualified as a securities trader, operations professional, general securities principal, municipal securities principal, options principal, financial and operations principal and Investment Banking principal.
Mark is originally from Los Angeles.
Michael has many passions in life, two of which are working with numbers and helping people. For Michael, financial planning has allowed him to combine those two. “It’s been more than 20 years in the industry and with the support I receive from M Stevens I am able to focus on what’s important to my clients, their families and their business’s”.
With a focus on providing comprehensive advice and his passion for assisting people on their path to financial independence, Michael’s practice consists of a broad range of clients, from those in the height of their career to someone transitioning into retirement. Michael has fond memories of growing up in Central New York. With great ambitions for him and his family, a U-Haul was packed and Michael and his wife moved to California in early 1995 and “never looked back”.
His wife Samantha, their 18 year old son Matthew and 13 year old daughter Sofia reside in Orange County, CA. Michael enjoys golf and recently decided to take on the challenge of horseback riding with Samantha. As a New Yorker, his favorite sports teams are the Yankees and the New York Giants.
Eric has been in the financial services industry full-time since finishing graduate school in 1998. He has extensive experience ranging from client services at mutual fund and insurance companies, financial advising at independent broker/dealers, Managing Partner at a private financial planning firm, Branch Manager at a public investment company to his current role as Executive Vice-President of Business Operations with M|Stevens Wealth Advisors.
Eric is a two-time recipient of GAMA International’s Frontline Leader Award and has obtained the professional designation of Accredited Wealth Management Advisor(AWMA® ) from The College of Financial Planning. He has a MA degree from San Jose State University and a BA degree from UC Davis.
Born and raised in the San Francisco Bay Area, Eric and his family currently reside in Orange County, CA.
Carolyn Wyatt forged her foundation in the Economics Department at the University of Colorado and with more than 20 years of wealth management experience, she provides her clients with professional guidance to meet their financial goals. Her economic insights are heightened by ongoing research and participation in industry events which allows her to provide every client with prudent, personalized counsel and advice to meet their financial goals.
Born and raised in Long Beach, Carolyn is an avid skier, golfer and college sports fan. She has traveled extensively throughout Europe, Asia, and North America.
Renee works as an operations and sales assistant and makes our office run smoothly.
A previous bookkeeper for 10 years in the construction and medical fields, Renee enjoys working with numbers and helping others achieve their goals.
Renee was born and raised in Santa Ana, CA. In her spare time she enjoys spending time with her children and training Brazilian jiu-jitsu.
Douglas D. Nelson was born and raised in a small farming community outside Portland, ND. He graduated high school in 1973 and promptly enlisted in the United States Marine Corps where he spent the next four years at various duty stations in California and Hawaii.
After the Marine Corps, he was a bartender at the Waikiki Yacht Club before embarking on a sales career with an international company for eight years. In 1986, he went to work as a sales representative for the Pentel Writing Instrument Company covering the states of Washington and Alaska. He was promoted to Western Regional Manager in April 1990, managing the 13 western states. In 1997, he was promoted to National Sales Manager for the “fine pen” and art division. Doug left Pentel in March 2002.
From 2009 through 2012, Doug was also a part time professor at the University of Phoenix, teaching business and personal finance classes. He is also a partner in a small tax business with approximately 30 clients.
On March 1, 2003, Doug started his employment with Waddell & Reed after successfully passing his series 7, 66, and life insurance tests. Doug received numerous awards at Waddell & Reed for his accomplishments. In June of 2018, Doug decided he wanted to “venture out” and moved his practice to M Stevens Wealth Advisors located in Costa Mesa, CA.
Doug has a Chartered Retirement Planning Counselor (CRPC) designation, along with his MBA through the University of Phoenix (2003). Doug’s interests include his Harley, martial arts, guitar, traveling, red wine, and, of course finance!
Sterling Gary brings exceptional passion to the financial planning process. With over 35 years of financial advising experience, Sterling helps individuals gain a better understanding of the financial concepts behind insurance, investing, retirement, estate planning, and wealth preservation. He focuses on a client’s unique goals, needs and objectives and is committed to the tailoring of investments, insurance and the financial planning process. Sterling is active in his community. Volunteerism is in his blood - he has been an active member as well as a member of the board of directors of the Seal Beach Chamber of Commerce. He is a member of Friendship Baptist Church of Yorba Linda Ca. and was past president of the Friendship Development Foundation, a non-profit community outreach provider. He participates in other nonprofit and service related organizations such as the Habitat for Humanity and Olive Crest. He has held past memberships in the local Rotary Club as well as a Paul Harris Fellow and acted as past president of the Anaheim Hills Rotary Club with other Rotary titles such as Asst. District Governor and District Community Service director for Dist. 5320. He enjoys, golfing, fishing and bowling with a high average of 210.
Sterling is a native of California, with two adult children, Sean, Lauren and Kemo, the family German Shepard.
David is firmly committed to long-term client relationships and through financial planning helps his clients with retirement, education, estate & insurance planning strategies. Through job changes, divorce, births and deaths he works with his clients to make sure their investment strategy and financial plan continue to be tailored to their specific needs. David is a Specialist in working with the Bond Markets and the unique financial planning opportunities presented there.
David enjoys surfing, French press coffee, running with the bulls and jai-alai.
Scott Sandus has created a vast, multi-faced career in Finance that has proven to be a valuable resource in guiding clients to meet their financial dreams and goals. He started advising retail clients and eventually retirement plan participants at T. Rowe Price.
Scott had provided extensive retirement plan consulting at Towers Perrin, a global consulting firm, for large company 401(k) plans, such as Fox Entertainment and American Honda. Shifting to the smaller retirement plan market, he has guided business owners to professional corporations in the financial web they experience to maximize their productive years.
Scott has retained a Certified Financial Planner (CFP) certification since 2014. He additionally possesses a Series 7, 66 FINRA licenses and holds a CA Insurance license.
Scott grew up in what used to be a sleepy beach town called Manhattan Beach. He is married and tries to keep up with his twin children who are in pre-school. Scott has been living in Huntington Beach over 20 years. He is passionate about surfing, skiing, yoga & travelling.
Christopher Haddad is a wealth and Institutional money manager and loves helping families and organizations apply prudent analysis and process to managing their assets. He has spent his entire career in the investment business gaining experience with the world’s largest financial institutions in the areas of risk management, portfolio design and investment selection. While advising is his primary job function by day Christopher also enjoys spending time in the great outdoors with his wife and four children.
